Motivational Drivers

September 18th, 2006

What motivates us?
There are two main types of drivers that exist. Towards drivers and away drivers, most people are one or the other. A towards person is the type of person that is committed to success, they want things; they set high goals. They rarely settle for thing that aren’t on there path. Incentives work well with these type of people.

People who respond to away drivers are normally driven by pain, stress and other unpleasant thought. Those who do respond to away drivers are normally not as motivated until an unpleasant event happens. Once the unpleasant thought has dissipated people who do respond to these drivers often then relax again and go back to normal. Away people are often great problem solvers, but would raely leave a job until such drivers came into play.

The ideal would be to have a careful balance to these two drivers, and use them appropriately. Eg: in a meeting you will have the two types of people, allow the Towards people to come up with the great ideas, then let the away people come up with solutions why this wouldn’t work.

Eye Watching

September 18th, 2006

Eyes can tell you a lot about someone, so watch eye movements when you ask someone a question. It is usual that if someone goes de-focussed or looks up, they are going into a memory or into imagination. If they look down and to the right, they are going into a feeling. If their eyes move to the right or left, they are often talking to themselves or listening very carefully. It’s useful to pick up eye clues, because it can help you know where another person is going in their thinking!

Get rid of a headache with out drugs?

September 18th, 2006

1. Rate the headache from 0 to 10 points. 10 being the worst.

2. Make a picture that represents the headache, and project it onto a screen in front of you.

3. Change the colour of it until it reduces by 2 or 3 points.

4. Shrink the picture, slowly, until it’s the size of a small balloon, each time you change colours.

5. Release the balloon, watching it drift up, into the clouds, getting smaller as it goes, and disappears, so that only the ghost of the memory remains.

6. If that doesn’t work, burst that balloon with a couple of Nurofen!

If you do not have a plan for your life, someone else does. Be in control of your own destiny.

Movitational quotes

if you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. — Marcus Aurelius

What you link pain to and what you link pleasure to shapes your desinty.

The secret of sucess is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you’re in control of your life. If you don’t, life controls you.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. — Helen Keller
